Community Housing Solutions (CHS), a branch of Operation Inasmuch, provides home repairs to qualifying families who are owner-occupants of Guilford County homes and are below specific income levels. The scope of repairs may include but is not limited to roofs, plumbing, floors, energy efficiency repairs, accessibility modifications, electrical hazards, and code violations. Work that is cosmetic or optional in nature does not fall within the scope of the program. We focus on repair issues which make a home warmer, drier, and safer. With the help of more than 700 volunteers a year, CHS has provided critical home repairs to over 1650 homes since our inception.
Community Housing solutions home repair program helps make a home a safe, decent, healthy, and affordable place to live. The average home repair cost for CHS is currently $8600 per home. The impact of an $8600 investment in a low-income family’s home is PRICELESS: these neighbors can experience improved overall health and well-being, reduced utility bills and housing cost burden, and a home that is warm, dry, and safe to shelter in all while strengthening and stabilizing the neighborhood.

Since the completion of our first home in 1988, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro has completed 509 new homes in Greensboro and 32 recycles – changing the lives of 541 families. Habitat Greensboro currently has 17 homes under construction, with plans to start 33 new homes in the next fiscal year.
