It's Modular Home Set Day!
Join us on site at 4160 Moat Drive to watch a 150-ton Crane hoist two halves of a Modular Home (each measuring 13 feet wide by 54 feet long) from their carriers to the foundation!
It's going to be a great day that starts with a foundation & ends with a fully dried-in & secure Home, ready for the finishing touches!
The set crew will be there around 7:30 to prep the Home:
- remove the wrapping that protected the Home on its journey from the Virginia Homes of Boydton Factory
- remove the bolts securing the Home to the carriers
- maneuver the carriers next to the Crane with a tractor
The Crane will arrive between 8 & 9am & the crane crew will prep the Crane:
- maneuver the crane to the best vantage point on the crane pad at the front of the lot
- set up the support arms & bracing to steady the Crane
- secure the counterweights on the back of the Crane
As an extension of the informative talk given by Carla Parvin during Triad REIA's October meeting, this Field Trip is offering the REIA community a chance to see the action & ask follow-up questions! You're welcome to take photographs & videos.
Safety is of Paramount Importance as this is an Active Construction Site!
Please be mindful & use caution & common sense as you move around to get a good view of the action.
